Frequently Asked Question
Q - What are the differences in regular flash and IR (infrared) flash cameras?
A - The regular flash cameras are going to have clear, crisp, colorful pictures with a flash range of 45+ feet. The regular flash cameras have a bright white flash that can be seen clearly by animals and people. The quality of the regular white flash cameras are spectacular.
The IR cameras will have a red/purplish tint to the pictures with a flash range of 30+ feet. The IR cameras will only show a faint red glow when the camera flashes to take the picture. This red glow is only visible if you look directly at the camera in the split second instant that the camera flashes and is very discrete. In my experience I believe that the IR flash is not visible to animals since I have never had an animal spook from an IR camera. I like using the IR cameras over buck scrapes, trails, and tree rubs. They are also useful as surveillance to catch thieves or trespassers.

Q - Does the regular flash cameras spook deer?
A - Over the years I have noticed that the flash cameras will spook some deer and some deer it does not bother. It seems that if you have a large tract of land or land that the deer do not have excessive hunting pressure then the white flash cameras will not bother them. I have seen numerous pictures of 150 class bucks from white flash cameras that just stood in front of the camera and let the camera flash one right after the other. These bucks were either on large tracts of land or were no hunted excessively. I have also seen deer that did not like the white flash. These deer were usually on small tracts of land that had excessive hunting pressure. The deer were already so spookish that they would spook from the white flash. These deer would not leave the property; they would just avoid the camera by walking around the camera to avoid the flash. How do I know this? I kept moving the camera around and would get 1-2 pictures of the bucks each time. After a couple pictures of them they would learn where the camera was and walk around it. Also, I have never seen a doe or small buck spook from the white flash. They don't seem to mind it either way. The only deer I have seen spook were large older bucks on small excessively hunted tracts of land.

Q - What batteries do you recommend using in the camera?
A - I recommend using Energizer Lithium e2 batteries or rechargeable batteries in the camera. I personally like the Sanyo Eneloop or Duracell Precharged rechargeable batteries. The regular Duracell 2650 mah or Energizer 2500 mah rechargeable batteries will also work great and are available at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc. The Sanyo Eneloop 2000 mah and Duracell Precharged batteries have a slow discharge rate and would make the camera last longer than the regular rechargeable batteries.
